Cocoon Cruisers is an interdisciplinary R&D project around a next-generation motorsailor design. Clientele is the new ‘digital nomad’ generation of liveaboard cruisers, as couples or small family. It’s quite a shift in usage and roles compared to the boomers. On the tech side, rapid evolutions in many related fields and a few hard choices allow a much enhanced remix, with breakthrough volume, speed, efficiency\/range\/autonomy, and draft. Blurring the somewhat artificial line between motoryachts and sailboats, at home on the inland waterways as well thanks to a simplified collapsible rig, the boat is exceptionally flexible in terms of sailing modes, seasons and cruising grounds. Nothing overly complex about the concept though: we can aim for a modest TCO allowing to compete frontally with the second-hand boats usually associated with these clients.<\/p>\n
